Student Conduct Assessment

As part of its continuing mission to promote a guiding ethical norm through responsible behavior and The Seminole Creed, the Office of Student Rights & Responsibilities has identified four intended learning outcomes of the student conduct process. Throughout the process, charged students will obtain these learning outcomes during their interactions with staff and students and thru the use of facilitated learning experiences.

During the hearing, the hearing body will meet and decide which learning outcome(s) are most appropriate for a student to gain from the conduct process. After identifying the learning outcome(s), the hearing body will communicate the intended learning outcomes through the decision letter.

Content Knowledge:  At the conclusion of your involvement in the conduct process, you will have increased content knowledge on a specific topic or social issue, as demonstrated by your completed sanction.

Self-Reflection:   At the conclusion of your involvement in the conduct process, you will have an increase in self-awareness of your behavior, of the appropriateness or inappropriateness of your behavior, and of the expectations of the Seminole Creed and The Florida State University, as demonstrated by your completed sanction.

Effect on Others, the University Community and/or Society:  At the conclusion of your involvement in the conduct process, you will have an increased understanding of how your behavior affected or could have affected others. You will have an increased understanding of community and/or societal standards and the reasons for them, as demonstrated by your completed sanction.

Effect on Personal Well Being, Future and Strong Deterrence:  At the conclusion of your involvement in the conduct process, you will have an increased self-awareness of the potential physical or psychological effects of your behavior. You will have an increased self-awareness of the potential affect of your behavior on your future career, course of study, and relationships with others. You will understand that violating the Student Code of Conduct does not support your success at the Florida State University and subsequent involvement in the conduct process is not desirable, as demonstrated by your completed sanction.

Evaluation

As part of a continuing effort to ensure that the Office of Student Rights & Responsibilities is providing students with a professional setting, they have established evaluations for after information sessions and hearings. If you would like to reflect on your experience with the Office, please send an e-mail to srr@fsu.edu so we may provide you with an evaluation form. Thank you.
